seeing = feeling

As usual, the military industrial complex, never ceases to amaze with its unrelenting development of more and more fascinatingly powerful (and useful) instruments and weapons. In this article over at wired, these new binoculars will, "monitor the wearer's neural signals, queuing soldiers to recognize targets faster than the unaided brain could on its own. The idea is that EEG can spot "neural signatures" for target detection before the conscious mind becomes aware of a potential threat or target."

The instrument is appropriately named Luke's Binoculars, because, well, they're about as Sci-Fi as one can get. One can just imagine using these in the city, looking down 5th Avenue from Central Park, and vividly spotting your girlfriend in Washington Square about 70 blocks down.
